The role of Principal Structural Engineer has been created as part of the consultancy’s strategic growth, responding to increasing demand for their forward-thinking structural designs in Essex and the surrounding areas. This position is critical in driving project success, mentoring a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the continued growth of their regional office.
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers and technicians, delivering landmark projects that push the boundaries of design and sustainability. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role, ensuring the highest standards in project delivery, fostering client relationships, and contributing to the company’s strategic objectives.
The Principal Structural Engineer Will:- Lead the delivery of complex structural engineering projects, providing innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions that exceed client expectations.
- Provide strategic guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and technical standards.
- Review and approve detailed designs, calculations, and reports to ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Mentor and train engineers and technicians, fostering professional growth and maintaining a high-performing team.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and representing the company in client meetings and industry events.
- Extensive knowledge of structural design principles and construction methods across multiple materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Proficient in industry-standard software, with the ability to oversee and review detailed technical outputs.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng), holding membership with IStructE or ICE, demonstrating a commitment to professional and technical excellence.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor teams while maintaining high technical standards.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships, including negotiating contracts, setting expectations, and ensuring satisfaction.
