Job Summary:
My client is looking for a skilled BMS Estimator to join their team, using technical expertise to provide advice and support on a range of Building Management System (BMS) products. This role involves developing BMS Points schedules, selecting materials, estimating costs, and preparing project tenders based on specifications and drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately estimate material and labour costs for BMS and/or lighting projects.
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals and tender documentation for Building Management Systems.
- Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Interpret technical M&E drawings and prepare “take-offs” from schematics.
- Assess technical building services requirements, determining equipment costs, prices, and margins.
- Develop precise estimates and quotations to align with customer and business needs.
- Review bid opportunities and collaborate with M&E clients to produce accurate electrical estimates.
- Work closely with Project Managers to accommodate project changes and demands.
- Conduct on-site surveys for BMS and lighting opportunities.
- Translate project requirements into detailed designs, ROI calculations, and cost estimation sheets.
- Implement operational procedures into Simpro and establish cost centres.
- Provide technical support to project electricians and engineers as required.
- Develop commissioning sheets, reports, and methodologies to ensure successful project completion.
- Maintain strict compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Assist Project Engineers with project design post-contract award.
Requirements:
- Experience in BMS, building services, or electrical estimating.
- Strong understanding of M&E drawings and ability to perform material take-offs.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Simpro) and cost analysis tools.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
