Salary: £12,000 pro rata (FTE £24,000)

Reed in Colchester are delighted to be supporting our client seeking a Pattern Library Administrator on a part time, permanent basis.

As the Patter Library Administrator, you will provide accurate and timely preparation of fabric (in various forms) which enables their customers to either proceed with a developed project or place an order for fabric.

Reporting to the Admin Team Leader, you will also maintain various fabric archives so that both internally and externally there is easy access to the extensive archive of fabrics, which is used for multiple purposes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As part of the Pattern Library Team make sure that when a customer receives a package of samples or cuttings they are well presented and can be accurately identified. You will be accountable for understanding and following company procedures to complete all the tasks that you are responsible for.

Main duties included;

  • Cutting and preparing fabric samples, of which there are a number of variations
  • Cutting and preparing company collections where there are a number of tasks within the process that will vary depending on the Collection
  • Preparing cutting requests for designs that have been selected by a customer
  • Filing and retrieving fabric from their extensive archive, where some is accessed via safety ladders
  • Ongoing managing and sorting of this archive is required
  • Maintain a stock of tartan and facings sample cards that are used by customers to select the correct quality and purchase stock fabric
  • Overlocking fabric samples using a non-industrial machine
  • Maintain the customer showrooms to ensure they are tidy and have all the appropriate samples and stationery for a customer visit
  • Undertake relevant Inspection training so that Pattern Library can provide reciprocal support in that department for absence and holiday cover
  • To understand and adhere to the company Safety, Health & Environmental Policy and team safety procedures and risk assessments
  •  Any other duties as reasonably required.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic IT skills.
  • Numerate and literate
  • Ability to work safely at height (approx. 2.5 metres high)
  • Needs to be able to work within a team to meet deadlines
  • Must have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and experience of working in a service environment
  • A self-starter and able to work without supervision
  • Needs to be confident and able to cut fabric neatly and with straight edges using scissors and the handheld cutting machine.

DESIRED:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience or interest in working with fabrics
  • Previous experience using a non-industrial sewing machine.
