Your new companyHays are delighted to be supporting a local organisation to introduce a confident Credit Manager. You will play a crucial role in improving cash flow, reducing unallocated cash, and ensuring accurate and timely billing with a targeted bonus for the duration of your 12-month contract.

Your new roleIn this role, you will manage a team of three, focusing on improving the ageing of debt to enhance working capital and reduce unallocated cash. You will work on local authority account reconciliation, assist in monthly receipts forecasting, and manage cash flow targets. Additionally, you will refine debt collection processes, update template documents, and prepare debt analysis reports for finance management. Additionally, you'll be responsible for overseeing resident debt collection, ensuring accurate and timely paperwork completion for billing and cash collection, and managing significant debts in coordination with solicitors. This role also requires the successful candidate to collaborate with the management accounts team for month-end and year-end debt ledger closing processes.

What you'll need to succeed

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong credit background, understanding cash collection, debt recovery and financial management.
  • Attention to detail and high volume processing, strong Excel skills and multitasking
  • Experience leading a team is essential - NHS/local government experience would be advantageous
