My client a luxury 4* Hotel in Colchester is seeking a talented and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join their culinary team. This is a full-time, permanent role with a salary of £30,000 - £32,000 per year, additional tips, and a range of benefits, including a company pension, discounted meals, free parking, gym membership, and employee discounts.

What Does the Role Entail?

In this role, you will be part of a brigade delivering high-quality brasserie food to hotel guests, non-residents, and event spaces. You will prepare fresh, locally sourced dishes across various settings, from corporate lunches to wedding receptions. Responsibilities include managing food budgets, supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, collaborating with the Food and Beverage team to enhance the guest experience, menu planning and pricing, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations. Shifts are worked on a rota basis, five days in seven, with a 48-hour work week.

What Skills Will You Have?

You are an experienced chef with at the knowledge that comes from luxury hotels or restaurants, a passion for fresh, creative cooking, and a working knowledge of budgets and waste management. You are skilled in managing a section, mentoring staff, and meeting high 4-star culinary standards. You bring attention to detail, flexibility, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to stay calm and organised under pressure.
