OverviewCasanovas Recruitment are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Team Leader to join a large organisation in the Colchester area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, including complex and large volume payroll ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. As the Payroll Team Leader you will be responsible for BACs submissions and for compliant HMRC submissions, including P11ds, PSA and monthly RTI submissions. The Payroll Team Leader role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems and supervising a small team as well as proficiency in various accounting software.

This is a hybrid role with two days based in the office per week and three days home/remote working.

Responsibilities as a Payroll Team Leader:

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to resolve any payroll-related inquiries or discrepancies.
  • Provide support on payroll legislation and pension scheme rules to the wider HR service and ensure they are up to date on the latest scheme rules that may impact initiatives they are working on.
  • To become the technical advisor on all matters relating to reward (including payroll and pensions) ensuring the systems and processes remain compliant with employment legislations, such as NWM, Taxable benefits, IR35
  • Analyse payroll data to identify trends or discrepancies and provide reports as needed.
  • Ensure payroll bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure pensions schemes are efficiently administered whilst providing a responsive and helpful 'customer first’ service internal and external customers.
  • Day to day management of 4 x Administrators, undertaking regular 121’s,agreeing and reviewing individual objectives and performance, supporting the team in building individual PDP's, managing performance, recruiting and training and developing them with the support of the Payroll Manager.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment legislation affecting payroll processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Team Leader or similar role
  • CIPP qualifications or other Accounts based qualification
  • Recent experience of leading/supervising a team
  • Experience of running gross to net payrolls in house and reconciliation of financial records
  • Experience of administering occupational pension schemes.
  • Relevant experience of gathering and interpreting complex requirements relating to external agencies, e.g. HMRC and pension providers.
  • Experience of being a team leader, or project leader, agreeing clear team objectives, organising, and delegating tasks according to individual abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with employees at all levels.
