Job Title: Procurement ManagerLocation: ColchesterSalary: £60,000 - 80,000
Role Overview:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join our client’s team in Colchester (hybrid) in a newly created role. This pivotal role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of supplier relationships, the sourcing of new products and services, ensuring that all suppliers meet quality and compliance standards, and will play a key role in supporting the business's strategic procurement objectives and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have the skills, aptitude and experience to grow the role to Procurement Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels
- Ensure the company obtains quality products for competitive prices in a timely fashion
- Liaise with key company employees to determine their product and service needs and research new products and services to meet company objectives.
- Nurture relationships with suppliers, visit exhibitions and negotiate the best prices for the company
- Identify and research potential new suppliers. Resourcing and dual sourcing
- Management of all suppliers and product quality and compliance including monitoring the performance of suppliers in terms of product quality, service levels, pricing and security of supply
- Carry out forecasting to manage stock levels against the production usage reports and make recommendations to improve process
- Identify and target high cost or high usage material areas with a view to negotiating better discounts.
- Responsible for reviewing supplier prices and services to ensure the business receives best value for money.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve the procurement process.
- Management of the procurement team / building and adding resource specifically focusing on product category management.
Requirements:
- CIPS Level 6 Qualified or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years’ procurement management experience in the GNFR/retail industry
- At least 3 years’ experience at a Buyer or category manager level, in the GNFR/retail industry
- Educational qualifications that demonstrate proficiency in English Language and Maths
- E-literate and competent in developing, administering, and using PC systems to acquire, manipulate and disseminate information
- Commercially minded, driven by achieving cost savings and targets whilst not losing sight of the business
- Strong Influencing skills to manage stakeholders and supplier
- Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Good data and financial analysis capability
- Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills to develop and sustain effective relationships internally, and on behalf of the organisation with external bodies and with its suppliers.
