Role Overview:We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dedicated team. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering strategic defence contracts and supporting our business growth. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing new products in line with our New Product Introduction (NPI) process, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, and driving engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design new products according to technical specifications.
  • Report project progress at monthly engineering team reviews.
  • Collaborate with the team to explore business opportunities at the project concept stage.
  • Enhance design tools and systems to boost productivity within the NPI process.
  • Create product/component designs using high-end 3D CAD software.
  • Produce detailed drawings and bills of materials for product configuration and ERP tools.
  • Generate technical documentation in line with the NPI process.
  • Support continuous improvement activities with Process/Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality procedures.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role
  • Demonstrable experience in development and delivery projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of software and programming is advantageous.
  • HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent.
  • Proficient in engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive self-starter with a methodical approach to tasks.
