We are excited to be working on behalf of a well-established and rapidly expanding wholesaler who are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their growing team!

The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, and other stakeholders to ensure that our client obtain high-quality products at competitive prices, while managing inventory levels and maintaining compliance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiating prices and terms of sale with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Owning and managing some key food categories in the business
  • Looking at opportunities to innovate with suppliers and create efficient, for example reducing packaging to create a shared cost benefit
  • Trading performance responsibility, including regular sales reports, budgets, and targets
  • Analysing market trends
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering effective communication and long-term partnerships.
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new food products.

Previous Skills & Experience:

  • Food buying experience is an essential
  • Strong awareness of product and category trends
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
