Import Clerk - Sea Freight
Coggeshall (Outskirts of Colchester) - due to rural location own vehicle is desired.

Our client is a dynamic international multi-modal freight forwarder with over 25 years of experience in the logistics industry. They specialise in providing end-to-end operations, including break bulk and project services, and are currently looking to expand their sea import team. With a commitment to excellence, they offer comprehensive FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) services from major overseas ports, ensuring efficient handling of cargo documentation and customs clearance.

As an Import Clerk you will:
- Manage start-to-finish import consignments via sea freight
- Create bookings from the origin (Major oversea ports including USA, Far East and the Indian Subcontinent)
- Provide freight rates, quotes, and pricing solutions for customers
- Ensure all import and Cross Trade activities are completed accurately and on time
- Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, and various carriers
- Track and update shipment statuses in the company's system and provide regular updates to clients
- Complete customs entries and clearances paperwork and ensure all accurate.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and trade compliance laws
Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
- Proven experience in end-to-end Sea Freight Operations
- Working knowledge of the international freight forwarding industry
- Experience with a UK-based freight forwarder
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to develop trust with colleagues & clients
- Proactive and professional approach to problem-solving
Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
- Familiarity with container import customs clearance processes
- Experience coordinating UK-wide deliveries from multiple ports
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy
Technologies:
- Proficient in logistics software and tracking systems
- Familiarity with customs clearance systems and documentation
