About the role…
The Community Support Officer will support the Community Wellbeing Team in delivering a wide range of projects. You will work with local partners including the Community Safety Partnership, Town & Parish Councils and Voluntary and Community Sector organisations to support vulnerable or marginalised communities and to promote public safety as well as health and wellbeing across Forest of Dean.Â
The role also acts as a relief Street Warden as and when needed to cover holidays, sickness, specific events or within the Council’s civil emergency response team.
Some of your responsibilities:Â
- Engage with voluntary and community sector organisations operating locally on relevant community projects and enable connections between them
- Develop close understanding of the services available locally and signpost partners and community representatives as appropriate.
- Work with the Council’s Communications Team to ensure that information and PR campaigns in the district are communicated appropriately and in line with protocol.
- Investigating complaints of anti-social behaviour, graffiti or environmental deterioration in accordance with Council Policy.

You will need…
- A level NVQ3, or BTEC Relevant professional qualification (relevant experience can be considered as an alternative)
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and colleagues
- Competent in using a range of technology and software packages, including Microsoft 365
- Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
- Experience in assessing routine situations and carrying out inspections if and when required
- Experience in working across a partnership and in a strengths based way.Â

- You will be expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the service.
- Full UK Driving LicenseÂ
- Ability to travel/ access to a vehicle for work purposes
