Maintenance Engineer Location: ColneSalary £43,430 OTE £52-55Kgap technical is proud to represent an industry-leading and well-established manufacturing business in their search for an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join their teamWe are looking for a qualified Electrical Engineer to provide breakdown support and maintenance across a wide range of machinery and facilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Scope of RoleTo provide high-quality electrical maintenance support within a fast-paced packaging environment, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely. The role involves preventive and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and optimize production output.Key Responsibilities:
- Immediate response to equipment failures during shifts.
- Use manuals and failure history to diagnose faults, implement effective solutions, and document all repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Conduct machine and facility checks to identify potential failures or safety risks.
- Perform risk assessments before maintenance work and ensure necessary precautions are in place.
- Ensure all equipment is handed back to production in a safe and operational state.
- Assist in resolving safety actions from audits, accident investigations, or legal compliance reviews.
- Identify and address reductions in output or yield losses, recommending improvements.
- Support the Project Team in implementing change and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and a professional working approach.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Apprentice Trained in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of PLCs and automation systems.
- Experience with various motors, inverters, servos, and DC drives.
- Worked with 415V AC power circuits and 24V DC control circuits.
- Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Experience with compressors, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, and HVAC systems.
- Some facilities maintenance knowledge is beneficial.
- Strong team player but capable of working independently.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and confident in decision-making.
- Ability to manage contractors and ensure high-quality, safe work.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
- Experience in coating, printing, or web manufacturing environments.
- Certifications such as IPAF or FLT license.
