What it's like to work here

Little Moreton Hall, a timber-framed building, surrounded by a scenic moat, has defied logic for over 500 years and is still standing strong. Built to make a statement of their status by the Moreton family, Little Moreton Hall was constructed during the Tudor period, with the earliest part of the house begun in around 1504. Nestled at the back of the hall is the manicured knot garden, where we grow herbs and vegetables that the Tudors would have used for their cooking and medicines.

What you'll be doing

As a Collections Assistant you’ll report to the Collections & House Officer and work alongside a small team of dedicated volunteers. This is a practical hands-on role. You’ll be working with a great team in an incredible place, helping with the day-to-day cleaning and care of a small collection. No detail will go unnoticed, and you’ll keep a keen eye on everything from the environmental conditions in a room, to signs of wear and tear. You'll collect and record accurate information during housekeeping cleaning routines to inform our understanding of the house and the collection, and use preventive conservation techniques to improve how we conserve and present the property.

In this visitor facing role, we’d love you to talk to visitors about the work you’re doing, the Hall and its collection. You'll also be part of the wider team of employees and volunteers, helping to cover where necessary.
