Our client, an established UK aerospace company, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Consett, Durham. This role involves the design and development of both new and existing projects, contributing to high-performance mechanical solutions in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Perform a variety of design processes in areas such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical systems, and mechanisms.
  • Support the development and qualification of new technology, including but not limited to sensors, controllers, pumps, coatings, and materials.
  • Contribute to the creation of compliance documents such as test reports, design/analysis reports, safety assessments, etc.
  • Provide support for legacy programs to all stakeholders.
  • Develop in-house software and engineering tools with the aim of reducing costs, increasing quality, and expanding capability.
  • Assist with practical work such as building prototypes, machines, and assembling test rigs.


Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification/degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience with 3D & 2D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with data analysis software and DAQ/control systems (preferred).
  • Experience in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
