My client are looking for an Audit and Accounts Semi Senior to join the vibrant, friendly team in either the Corby or Peterborough office. This role is ideal for a part-qualified accountant looking for further their career within a top 15 accountancy network.

This is a varied role that will include undertaking a 60/40 split of audits and accounts work, both in the office and at client premises, giving the successful candidate a wide range ofexperience across both disciplines.  

 

You are a passionate and enthusiastic individual with at least two years of experience in the delivery of external audit and accounting services. Ideally, the applicant will have experience in conducting and completing audit engagements as well as processing and completing accounts across a wide range of clients, both carrying out this work and overseeing and reporting on the work of others.   

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering a first-class service to clients, and the ability to work as part of a team.

 A driving license and access to transport is essential as the role involves regular travel to client premises across Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas.

 

You’ll be working with a diverse client portfolio, both in audit and accounts.

AUDIT

- Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, and finalisation, to include:

- Attend audit planning meetings

- Attend client’s premises to conduct audit fieldwork

- Perform tests using auditing software

- Follow instructions of audit senior

- Provide trainees with on the job training during audits

- Adapt audit testing with senior/manager input to best suit client’s needs

- Proactively participate in two-way communication regarding audit progress and any issues with client and manager

- Responsible(alongside Audit Senior) for completion of the audit file and working with the team to ensure deadlines are met

- Contribute to the completion of appropriate reporting to identify audit findings to manager in a timely manner

- Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and provide guidance to trainees

- Monitor budgeted time allocated for the audit and notify the manager if the audit will go over the set timeframe

ACCOUNTS

- Planning and preparing draft accounts including:

- Production of lead schedules to agree to accounts disclosures

- Production and reconciliation of control accounts

- Collation of appropriate evidence to support figures in the account

- Drafting sole trader/company tax computations

- Relevant queries to assist with supervisor/manager review

- Identifying financial, commercial, and tax planning opportunities for clients

- Coaching and supporting junior team members

STUDYING

- Study towards the relevant accountancy qualification – ACCA or ACA

- Balance your studies with working full time with generous study leave

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- At least 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 with a 6 or above in English Language and Maths (or equivalent)

- At least 3 A levels at grade B or equivalent

- AAT qualified or grade 2:1 at degree level equivalent.    

- At least two years’ practice experience

- Competent knowledge of the Microsoft Office software

- Ability to deliver accurate work to deadlines and under pressure with good time management skills

- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering a first-class service to clients, and the ability to work as part of a team

- Excellent customer service and communication, both written and verbally

- Sound technical and analytical skills

- Good communication, report writing, and presentation skills

- Adaptable and flexible in attitude

- Must be able to live and work in the UK

 

- Adynamic and varied workload and excellent prospects for progression

- Salary£24,000 to £26,000 depending upon experience. Salary is reviewed annually
