Deputy Manager

We are seeking a Deputy Manager to oversee the effective day-to-day operations of a residential home in the absence of the Home Manager. This role involves managing a team, allocating work, and directly engaging with children when necessary. The Deputy Manager will ensure compliance with company policies and OFSTED regulations, safeguard the welfare of young people, and maintain a safe, responsive environment that meets individual and group needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Act as the point of contact in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring the home operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Oversee the development, monitoring, and implementation of individual care plans and case files.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and sensitivity to the needs of the young people.
  • Support the manager in ensuring that all aspects of the care plan are met and that transitions into and out of the home are managed sensitively.
  • Lead and manage shifts, ensuring that children are safe and engaged.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with parents, social workers, schools, and other stakeholders involved in the welfare of the young people.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to professional standards and company policies, including child protection procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within residential care settings.
  • Strong understanding of OFSTED regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in crisis situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
