Electrical Maintenance Plant Engineer

Salary: £36,500 per annum (increasing to £37,500 after probation), inclusive of shift allowance, plus bonus.

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for an Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer on behalf of their client, to work within a multi-skilled team. The role involves conducting planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities alongside reactive maintenance tasks in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

The shift pattern consists of 15 shifts, comprising 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday. This includes a week of day shifts (7am-3pm), a week of evening shifts (3pm-11pm), and a week of night shifts (11pm-7am).

Requirements:

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a team of multiskilled engineers while also being capable of independent work when necessary. Essential qualifications include being a qualified electrician with a relevant Level 3 electrical qualification (NVQ, ONC, BTEC, etc.). Knowledge of the 18th Edition regulations and basic mechanical skills are advantageous.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience with low-voltage electrical systems, drives, and PLCs.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding within electrical systems and conducting root cause failure analyses.
  • Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP PM experience is ideal).

Responsibilities:

The Electrician will be responsible for ensuring machinery operates at maximum efficiency while upholding the highest health and safety standards. This involves executing all maintenance activities according to site maintenance procedures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting electrical maintenance activities across the plant.
  • Troubleshooting relay control circuits.
  • Recording all engineering activities, including preventive, corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance, using the site maintenance management system.
  • Working with various types of drives, AC / DC motors, and performing basic PLC fault finding.
  • Interpreting electrical drawings.
  • Contributing to reducing the total life cycle cost of assets and maintenance costs.
  • Maintaining all assets within designated areas to high engineering standards that align with business objectives.
  • Identifying and implementing plant area improvement activities to enhance plant availability, safety, environmental performance, and asset performance.
