About the Role:

Excel Industrial is looking for skilled and reliable HGVTechnician to join adynamic team. As an HGVTechnician, you will be responsible for ensuring the service and repair of the fleet, working to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. You will play an essential role in maintaining the fleet to ensure its safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out service and repair work using appropriate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance and inspections of vehicles, in accordance with customer operating license requirements, ensuring all defects and corrective work are accurately recorded.
  • Complete job cards and service/inspection sheets legibly and accurately.
  • Use PC diagnostics to identify faults, clear fault codes, and ensure vehicle performance.
  • Perform road tests before and after repairs.
  • Follow parts order procedures, warranty claims, and exchange items as required.
  • Meet customer requirements through quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks.
  • Handle all vehicles, property, tools, and equipment with care and attention.
  • Adhere to company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, returning tools to their correct place after use.
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times, supporting both colleagues and customers.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • A current driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Ability to manage own time effectively and meet strict deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work early and late shifts.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ideally, a current LGV C+E Licence.
  • Knowledge of legislated licensing requirements (e.g., Driver CPC for European Markets).
  • A strong awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
