Red Recruitment have a new vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer to join a busy and established manufacturing plant. You will be focussed on H&S, Planning, PPM, Contractor management, You will be expected to demonstrate technical skills and unafraid to get your hands dirty, to minimise downtime
The role will have responsibility for maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, associated infrastructure and manufacturing facilities under the direction of the Engineering Manager, in order to ensure a safe, timely and efficient operation through the skills and expertise of self and their team.
Job Requirements
- To observe company Health & Safety Policy and all company rules. Responsible for maintaining a high level of safe practices in the engineering department at all times
- Plan and implement a PPM Schedule and ensure this is being actioned
- Ensuring that all staff are observing safety procedures and housekeeping processes
- Ensure the planning and resourcing of staff, technical support of day to day activities to meet the manufacturing demand
- Regular reporting of status on all engineering activities such as machine breakdowns, non-breakdowns, preventative maintenance, projects, etc. Analyse regular failures and provide long term solutions
- Liaise with production staff to agree on priorities and expectations and allocate resources accordingly
- Provide technical support and training to all staff as and when required
- Liaison with OEM’s and Contractors to ensure satisfactory performance and delivery from them
- Provide support and expertise to projects requiring engineering inputs
- Implement preventative processes to move away from reactive maintenance
- Carry out day to day hands on activities to reduce plant downtime
Required skills, experience and/or qualifications:
- Apprenticeship / industry recognised qualifications
- Experience in mechanical / electrical maintenance in a manufacturing / engineering environment. Experience with Robots/conveyors.
- Knowledge of plant operation principles, methods and processes
- Team leadership / Supervisory experience
- Ability to handle day-to-day and strategic issues, based around operational requirements and the management of a manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability
