Coltech is partnered with a prestigious government client who are looking for an experienced SC Cleared Wintel Engineer to join their team for a 6 month contract.


Job Responsibilities: 

The WINTEL Engineering Service will support the technical team installing, configuring and updating Windows servers and software components of the client's solution and development environment. The target environments are heavily virtualised. This work will also entail working with other teams to troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues.

  1. Installation, configuration, maintenance, administration, and support of Windows servers and related infrastructure, including in a virtualised environment.
  2. Installation and configuration of Microsoft enterprise products including but not limited to, Active Directory, Group Policy, SQL, Exchange, Skype, WSUS, PKI and MS Office elements.
  3. Production and review of all levels of design artefacts.
  4. Supporting wider systems testing activities.
  5. Working with Service Management to resolve issues.
  6. Server and storage hardware installation in a data centre environment
  7. Windows Server build and configuration, including GPU support.
  8. Support for application installation and configuration team
  9. Infrastructure configuration (Active Directory, firewall, proxies etc) to support application.


Required Skills/Experience:

  1. Significant experience in the installation, configuration, maintenance, administration, and support of Windows server operating systems, especially Windows Server 2019, including in a virtualised environment.
  2. Experience of GPUs in a server environment
  3. Experience of deploying servers and additional storage devices in a data centre environment
  4. Experience in the design, configuration, and administration of following in a secure environment
  5. Experience in the deployment and management of COTS applications on Windows Server infrastructure.
  6. Experienced of GIS solutions would be useful
  7. Configuring and administering backup and restore of Windows systems.
  8. Patching Windows systems.
  9. Configuring peripheral devices, including storage
  10. MS Windows client configuration and support including Windows 7 and Windows 10.
  11. Microsoft MCSE/NCSA Qualification or similar in Server 2012R2/16/19/22


Desired Skills/Experience:

  1. Working within the public sector
  2. Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector
  3. Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work.
  4. A firm grasp of service management tolling and ITIL knowledge/certification
  5. A Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors or Masters level or equivalent experience.
