We are currently seeking an experienced and driven General Maintenance Operative to join our expanding Tooling Manufacturing Business based on the south coast.

As GMO you will ideally be a technically minded individual with proven experience in a General Maintenance role within a factory/workshop or Manufacturing/Logistics setting, with a strong knowledge of H&S in the workplace & the ability to turn your hand to most tasks from basic electrical/plumbing/carpentry & masonry repairs to stock inventory management.

Please note; Manual dexterity and physical stamina are essential for this role.

Duties are to include but are not limited to;

  • Preventative and reactive maintenance (Internal & External)
  • Ensuring all factory work areas and common spaces are kept impeccably clean at all times (sweeping/mopping/vacuuming etc)
  • CNC & other basic heavy machine maintenance - ie ensure swarf bins are regularly emptied
  • Regular inspections of equipment inc fire extinguishers and appliances
  • Create H&S Logs in accordance with inspections & maintenance
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure safety signage is up to date and signed
  • Ensure safety manuals and PPE are accessible at all times
  • Stock inventory management
  • Stock taking/deliveries
  • General fixes
  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies

Skills required

  • Strong understanding and proven experience of implementing H&S in the workplace
  • Experience in a similar role within a similar industry
  • Basic electrical/carpentry/masonry/plumbing repair skills
  • Ability to read technical manuals
  • Confident in the use of hand tools
  • Forklift license (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Driving license essential
