About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to develop and manage Service Design Packs (SDPs) for Voice & Video (V&V) Services within the defence sector. This role requires a strong background in IT service documentation, technical writing, and the ability to work in high-security environments.

You will collaborate with Users, Defence Digital Eng Ops staff, and the Fixed Connectivity Team to create service-oriented documentation for 'Live Services’.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop two ITIL3-aligned Service Design Packs (SDPs) for V&V Services.
  • Create the 'as built’ Solution Specification for operational V&V systems.
  • Produce Voice & Video Product Roadmaps for the V&V Product Owner.
  • Assist in developing System Knowledge Articles (KAs), Work Instructions (WIs), and User Guides (UGs) for a small V&V Service.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working with Strategic Networks & Bearer Services.
  • Strong understanding of legacy vs. new systems and transition challenges.
  • Ability to navigate high-pressure environments with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience working in secure environments with stringent security controls.
  • Background in developing systems, solutions, or services as part of a larger capability.
  • V&V experience is desirable but not essential.
  • MOD background and knowledge of defence processes preferred.
