Account Information

Our client is a leading manufacturer of medical laboratory diagnostics worldwide and has been supplying immunodiagnostics products to the UK market dealing with in Autoimmunity, Infectious Serology and Allergy and Molecular Diagnostics. They are currently looking to onboard a Field Service Engineer within the Medical/Scientific field to help support their growth in the Midlands.


Role Overview

You will join a small service team who are responsible for all instruments and installations, including laboratory network solutions. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, you will be predominantly based in the Midlands allowing regular travel to customers in field and to the Wimbledon office occasionally.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • On-site instrument maintenance, repair and troubleshooting
  • Telephone support for instrument issues
  • Installation & support of laboratory IT/network solutions (LIMS/middleware)
  • Act as a point of contact for all instrument related enquiries and work collaboratively with colleagues both in the UK and overseas
  • Train customers and colleagues in the use of their instruments
  • Monitor own spare parts inventory and ensure appropriate stock is maintained
  • Software and applications support

Person specification

  • An Electronic or Mechanical Engineering qualification, BTEC, HNC etc.
  • At least two years experience working with instrumentation, ideally in a laboratory/medical environment
  • Experience with IT information systems, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • A keen interest in medical diagnostics and associated products, with a desire to develop a career in this field.
  • Self-motived with a keen desire to learn and succeed.

  • Salary dependent on experience (£40,000 - £50,000)
