We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join a high-performing, Private Equity (PE) backed business based in Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a fast-paced and growing organization, where you will have the chance to contribute to key financial reporting processes and ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards. This is a hands-on role that offers excellent exposure to the financial operations of a PE-backed business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS).
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all accounting entries are recorded accurately and within deadlines.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the preparation of the company’s annual financial statements, liaising with auditors during the year-end audit process.
  • Ensure proper accounting of fixed assets, tax, and intercompany transactions.
  • Support the preparation and filing of VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Contribute to cash flow forecasting and financial reporting for senior leadership and investors.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support to internal stakeholders as required.
  • Identify areas for process improvements in financial reporting and accounting processes.

Key Requirements:

  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualified accountant (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, ideally within a Private Equity backed or fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software and systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced business.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and liaising with auditors.
  • Exposure to tax, VAT, or treasury processes would be beneficial.
