We are seeking a senior Management Accountant to join our team, primarily focusing on providing specialised accounting services to a growing group of approximately 25 care home companies. This role offers the unique opportunity to work within an industry setting while being based in our accountancy practice office. The successful candidate will support one of our senior managers and play a crucial role in financial management and strategic planning for our clients.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform a small amount of bookkeeping using Sage Line 50.
  • Prepare detailed management accounts using Sage Line 50.
  • Utilise the budgeting functions within Sage Line 50 to manage and allocate funds efficiently.
  • Analyse financial reports, identify variances, and investigate anomalies to ensure accuracy and provide insights.
  • Demonstrate strong Excel skills to manage and manipulate financial data effectively.
  • Prepare forecast workings for individual care homes as well as for the entire group.
  • Assist in preparing consolidated management accounts for the group.
  • Conduct a small amount of KPI reporting to track and report key business metrics.
  • Liaise directly with directors, contributing to forecasts and addressing financial issues collaboratively.
  • Maintain familiarity with Sage payroll reports to support financial activities (note: this role does not involve payroll preparation).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant, practice experience desirable but not essential.
  • Strong proficiency in Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in preparing financial forecasts and consolidated management accounts.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Iris Accounts Production is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience in accounts preparation is a bonus but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with senior management.
  • Professional accounting qualification is ideal, though candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
