Gleeson are excited to be working with a business who are a household name, to support with some recruitment into their finance team. This is a super exciting role, the type of role that you can really get your teeth into and the best part is that they are not looking for someone with years and years of experience. Instead, they are wanting someone who has some knowledge behind them from a degree or equivalent qualification (AAT) and ideally 12-18 months experience.

This role is working within the sales ledger team, what the business are finding is that they are missing out on money that should be coming in as no one is confirming what money has been paid and what is still outstanding. Additionally, there is a bit of a complicated refund process for services here and as a result refunds are being paid out incorrectly when instead the business are entitled to this money. So ideally, this business need someone who is detailed and has a strong investigative nature about them to take control of this project and start managing the cash flow of this business. This role will be reporting into the finance manager and working alongside a team of 15 other finance assistants to compile finance data and manage cashflow. At this stage the business is unsure of how much work load there is here, so they are looking to hire this role as a 6 month temporary position, however if the right person goes in there and shows the value that this role can provide to the business, there is every chance that the business will make this position permanent.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reconciling bank statements against outstanding invoices to determine an accurate understanding of overdue debt.
  • Liaising with a range of internal teams to resolve invoice and debt queries.
  • Reviewing credit note requests and processing refund payments.
  • Managing a ledger of live accounts.
  • Resolving aged debt queries.
  • Speaking directly with customers to resolve queries.
  • Investigating finance payments.
  • Determining compliance as to whether this business is owed additional money.
  • Working as part of the wider finance team, providing support to the invoicing team as well as the credit control department.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the finance manager and wider finance team.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Ideally have prior experience within finance, minimum of 6 months, but ideally 12-18 months experience.
  • Experience including:
    • Raising invoices.
    • Completing reconciliations.
    • Finance query resolution.
  • Have strong communication skills, this role will require regulation liaison with a wider range of customers, team members and senior leadership.
  • Be very organised, very diligent and detail focused. This role is needing someone who is investigative and loves a puzzle.
  • Need to be immediately available or on a short notice period as this role is looking to begin as soon as possible.
