Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute ground investigation projects, including borehole drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing.
  • Supervise subcontractors and site operatives to ensure compliance with project specifications and health and safety standards.
  • Conduct environmental and geotechnical sampling of soil, rock, and groundwater.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, photographs, and test results.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Assist in preparing factual and interpretive reports based on site investigation data.
  • Contribute to the development of project-specific risk assessments and method statements.


Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in ground investigation fieldwork, ideally within a contracting environment.
  • Understanding of UK standards for ground investigation (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with geotechnical logging software.
  • A full UK driving license is essential.
