- Plan and execute ground investigation projects, including borehole drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing.
- Supervise subcontractors and site operatives to ensure compliance with project specifications and health and safety standards.
- Conduct environmental and geotechnical sampling of soil, rock, and groundwater.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, photographs, and test results.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Assist in preparing factual and interpretive reports based on site investigation data.
- Contribute to the development of project-specific risk assessments and method statements.
Qualifications and Skills
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in ground investigation fieldwork, ideally within a contracting environment.
- Understanding of UK standards for ground investigation (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with geotechnical logging software.
- A full UK driving license is essential.
