Salary: £33,683 -£41,999 + 2024/25 pay award pending (depending on experience and qualifications)

Position: Permanent, 37 Hours a week, Monday - Thursday - 8am - 4pm Fri 8am - 3:30pm.

Trainee Building Surveyor

As a Trainee Building Surveyor, you’ll embark on a rewarding journey with us, where Citizen will sponsor your surveyor course, enabling you to achieve a full surveying qualification. You’ll be a proactive and motivated individual, gaining hands-on experience in conducting Damp and Mould Inspections while working alongside our dedicated Repairs Team.

Building Surveyor

In the Building Surveyor role, you’ll take on additional responsibilities, including day-to-day repairs inspections within tenanted properties. You’ll be an integral part of our technical team, reporting to our Operations Managers, and engaging directly with customers. Your excellent communication skills will be essential in ensuring tasks are completed efficiently in our fast-paced housing environment.

In housing you can make a real difference the role of Trainee or Building Surveyor will involve:

  • Providing technical support in the delivery and development of repairs and maintenance services for Maintenance Operation
  • Carrying out Damp and Mould surveys across our stock to help identify the root cause of Damp and Mould and action any remedial works needed
  • Effectively supervising and co-ordinating the work of internal and external contractors, ensuring works are carried out in accordance with specifications, legislation, relevant codes of practice and customer requirements
  • At all times and in all aspects of work, ensure both internal and external customer’s requirements are considered and respected, making sure that customers are always kept informed of issues and progress
  • Take responsibility for resolving customer complaints and service enquiries in a professional and responsive manner in accordance with Citizen procedures, identifying and recommending service improvements where appropriate

It is essential that you have:

  • HNC/HND or are willing to work towards it. Alternatively, you are able to provide supporting evidence of time served as a building surveyor
  • Good Health and Safety knowledge and a strong teamwork attitude
