Due to rapid expansion and internal promotions, our Client, a reputable and forward thinking environmental logistics organisation based in Coventry is seeking a Commercial Development Director. Reporting to the Commercial Network Director, your job will be to manage 3 direct reports with a team of 27. The position covers all areas of the commercial spectrum, including Commercial Contracting, Commercial Accounts, and Commercial Services.

This senior leadership and management role in the business involves leading the commercial team and playing a central part in driving healthy operating income.

A key aspect of this position is ensuring European commercial alignment across the division. This involves close collaboration with commercial directors within the division, with support from the Commercial Network Director. The role carries responsibility and accountability for successful growth within the UK&I business unit. It includes engaging with internal and external stakeholders, prospecting for new large-scale business opportunities, and managing contract life cycles to retain volume across the area with a focus on controlled and profitable growth. Developing and implementing sales strategies to drive revenue growth in alignment with other areas, with the support of the Commercial Network Director, is essential. Building, leading, and developing a team of experts within the UK&I is also a fundamental part of the role. Operating in a commercial environment, the position encompasses a broad range of tasks, topics, and projects. It demands high levels of energy and resilience to navigate complex supply chain challenges while protecting business growth from competitors.

You have extensive commercial and leadership experience, working within a management position. You will have the desire and ability to challenge the status quo, implement appropriate changes in close collaboration with internal/external stakeholders. You will have to be mindful of the day-to-day operational and commercial demands of the teams, taking into account resource levels, timelines of any change/development requirements alongside supporting a disruption free business flow, and bringing people along the journey. You must demonstrate the ability to lead, to develop others within the team and across the organisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education

* Relevant Bachelor's or Master's Degree: A degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field. Equivalent experience may also be considered.

* Extensive experience within a leadership role across various relevant industries.

* Comprehensive Understanding of Costing Models and Customer Profitability Profiles.

* Proven Business Growth Planning and Delivery.

* Experience in leading change initiatives within organisations, including managing resistance, building support, and ensuring successful implementation of change efforts.

* Strong background in process engineering and delivery, focusing on optimising operational efficiency, improving productivity, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Knowledge

* Technical transitioning - System enhancements and delivery.
