Role: Commercial Manager (Healthcare)
Location: Coventry
Salary: £65 - £75k + can/car allowance
Bonus: 10%

We are working on behalf of a leading Facilities Management client, seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their dynamic team. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with dedicated contract teams and support functions, delivering commercial solutions and providing day-to-day commercial management support. The role places the Commercial Manager at the forefront of identifying and managing legal, financial, and commercial risks and opportunities, while promoting best practices and internal governance policies across the organisation.
Main Duties
- Contractual Advice: Provide expert guidance to contract teams on queries and interpretations regarding contract terms, including liabilities, payment mechanisms, KPIs, scope, and specification requirements to drive efficiencies and reduce scope creep.
- Risk Management: Ensure risk and opportunity registers are maintained by account management teams, with clear action plans for each item.
- Support Functions: Assist account teams in managing risks and opportunities, ensuring effective oversight and resolution.
- Contract Variations: Provide support on contract variations and change orders, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and internal policies.
- Core Data Maintenance: Collaborate with the Operations Director and Contract Manager to ensure core contract data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Issue Escalation: Prepare position papers and conduct commercial reviews for the escalation of major issues and risks.
- Documentation Review: Prepare and review contract documentation, supporting the submission of variation documentation.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal systems, processes, and procedures.
- Governance Adherence: Ensure appropriate governance for all documents requiring internal stakeholder sign-off and signature.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Competencies:
- Substantial experience in Commercial Contract Management.
- Expertise in Risk and Opportunity Management.
- PFI experience, ideally within the healthcare or education sector.
- Proficient in resolving complex issues through problem-solving and negotiation.
- Skilled in managing KPIs and Payment Mechanisms.
- Strong understanding of key contract provisions critical to managing contract risk profiles.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Proven ability to manage challenging client relationships.
- Experience in defect management and dispute resolution.
- Competence in negotiating or supporting settlement agreements.
- Familiarity with drafting and reviewing variation documents, including sub-contract agreements.
