CNC Setter Operator/ Coventry/ Engineering/ Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform machine setup and tooling selection to ensure efficient production runs.
  • Operate multiple CNC machines, including loading materials, setting tools, and running production jobs.
  • Conduct toolpath simulations and make necessary adjustments to optimise cycle times and ensure accuracy.
  • Alter machine datums as required.
  • Report issues encountered during setup and provide feedback on program efficiency.
  • Assist in identifying any requirements for tooling or equipment that need replacing.
  • Ensure all parts are inspected correctly, including first-off inspections.
  • Ensure all completed works orders are signed off correctly.
  • Provide feedback on the progress of projects, orders, and any escalations.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to minimise downtime and improve overall efficiency. Assist in maintaining machine maintenance plans and highlighting any issues.
  • Report any issues with drawings or routes and ensure corrections are made.
  • Manage and provide ongoing development of standard operating procedures relating to manufacturing processes.
  • Adhere to the companys quality and H&S management system and supporting processes (ISO9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018). Ensure all staff use and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Support a best practice and continuous improvement culture across the company, identifying opportunities where they arise, and taking ownership of driving initiatives forward.
  • Support internal and external audits as required, following company audit policies, processes, and schedules. Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs), aiding with NCR root cause analysis. Ensure any NCRs identified are rectified swiftly and within agreed dates.
  • Keep all work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times. Ensure all fixtures and equipment are stored correctly and are easy to locate.
  • Undertake any other relevant activities as required by the business.

Person Specification:

  • 5 years experience working in precision engineering or similar environment
  • Experience in setting and operating CNC machines
  • Proficient knowledge of CNC Milling
  • The ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of company products alongside how they are manufactured
  • The ability to work within a team and alone
