About the Role:
My client is recruiting for an applications engineer position in their growing Grinding Department. This role is ideal for a technically skilled manufacturing engineer, production engineer or an applications engineer looking to transition into the grinding sector.  The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of CNC programming, and process development. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading machine tool agents, working with high end grinding technology and partnering with blue chip companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to customers on grinding applications and machining processes.
- Develop and implement grinding strategies to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Program CNC grinding machines, optimizing cycle times and tool paths.
- Conduct machine trials, time studies, testing, and process validation at customer sites.
- Assist in machine installations, commissioning, and training for operators.
- Collaborate with R&D, sales, and service teams to deliver tailored turnkey solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and advancements in grinding technology
- Travel both nationally and internationally as required by the role.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in precision applications, CNC programming, and machine tool engineering is desirable.
- Manufacturing and production backgrounds will also be considered
- Strong knowledge of grinding processes, tooling, and machine setup is desired, but turning or milling process knowledge is also beneficial as full training will be provided.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Hands-on experience with CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and Internationally.
- A valid UK driving license.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for CNC programming.
