A Design Engineer (Tooling) position has become available within a business that supplies safety-critical technologies to some of the most exciting organisations within the engineering space. On-site, they produce volume products using modern-day manufacturing techniques and invest in prototyping with which customers across the globe get involved. Design Engineer duties include

  • Design and develop tooling and fixtures, ensuring DFM principles are incorporated.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for prototypes and high-volume production.
  • Provide technical support for modifying existing tooling and fixtures
  • Manage the entire design process from concept to production, ensuring smooth project progression.
  • Collaborate with production engineering teams on APQP and IATF documentation, ensuring designs meet quality and manufacturability standards.
  • Develop prototypes using 3D printing technology to validate designs and test functionality.

Design Engineer desirable skills and experience -

  • Experience in a similar position (assembly fixtures and tooling).
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and pressure vessels would be an advantage.
  • Relevant engineering education and/or training.
