We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working School Caretaker to ensure our clients school site is safe, clean, and well-maintained at all times. This is a vital role that involves site security, general maintenance, and health and safety checks, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Security and Safety:

  • Open and close the school premises, ensuring the site is secure at all times.
  • Conduct regular checks of the building, including fire alarms, security systems, and emergency exits.
  • Respond promptly to any security or maintenance issues that arise during the school day.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, decorating, and minor electrical work.
  • Ensure all school facilities are clean, safe, and fit for purpose.
  • Supervise contractors on-site, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.

Health and Safety:

  • Conduct routine health and safety inspections, keeping accurate records and reporting any hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including COSHH and risk assessments.
  • Manage and monitor heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.

General Duties:

  • Support with setting up rooms for events, meetings, and assemblies.
  • Monitor stock levels and order cleaning or maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Assist with the safe storage and disposal of school waste

Hours are 8am-4pm Monday-Friday, initially weekly pay via agency moving to a permanent contract with the school after a successful probation period.
