Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cost-effective control solutions for projects that meet customer requirements, comply with all relevant legislation, and stay within budget.
- Stay updated on evolving technologies and apply proven solutions that deliver business savings.
- Take responsibility for the detailed design, specification, implementation, and FAT testing of control systems.
- Support the Sales team in creating robust, cost-effective control solutions.
- Actively engage in value engineering to identify alternative materials, scope changes, and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining performance, quality, and compliance with client and statutory standards, codes of practice, and requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and submit designs for approval.
- Oversee on-site commissioning (hardware) and SAT testing (hardware) to ensure successful implementation of control systems.
- Collaborate with all relevant departments upon receipt of orders and attend handover meetings as required.
- Maintain strong working relationships with other departments to gather feedback on contracts and ensure technical insights are applied to future projects.
- Contribute to internal process development by identifying and eliminating waste or non-value-added activities, while maintaining and improving manual and electronic filing systems.
- Provide support to the Engineering Team during holidays or absences as needed.
- Perform other duties as agreed upon with management.
Experience:
- 1-3+ years relevant experience in electrical design (hardware) relating to either/both MCC (DOL, ASD, Soft Start & VSD design), Switchgear, Control Panel and LV Distribution / Electrical Installations.
- Competence in working in a Systems Integration Environment, closely working with Software Engineers to develop Functional Design specifications (FDS).
- Specification, design, installation, and commissioning of equipment with internal and/or external resource.
- Knowledge of BS EN 61439, BS EN 60204.
- Qualified to the 18th Edition to BS 7671 wiring regulations.
- Experienced in producing Complex Electrical Schematics, General Arrangement Drawings and BOM.
- Experience in using AutoCAD Electrical.
