We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Manager to join a leading Facilities Management company based near Coventry to lead the delivery of grounds maintenance and vegetation management services. As Environmental Manager, you will oversee a team of operatives, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery while driving commercial success. In this role, you will be responsible for the estimation, scheduling, and financial management of services within our environmental division. Your expertise will be key in ensuring that all projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of grounds maintenance and vegetation management contracts, ensuring effective client communication throughout.
  • Develop and manage schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Assist senior management with tendering for new business and expanding the scope of services.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders (such as local authorities and councils) to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Oversee procurement processes, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and identifying opportunities to reduce expenditure.
  • Manage departmental vehicle fleet, ensuring timely and cost-efficient maintenance and repairs.
  • Identify and address departmental training needs to ensure a high level of competence across the team.
  • Review and improve departmental processes, policies, and procedures for enhanced efficiency.
  • Identify future challenges and opportunities in service delivery, developing strategic solutions to address them.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational objectives and foster a high-performance work environment.
  • Provide guidance to the leadership team, supporting a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Assist in the production of departmental P&L reports and contribute to quarterly reporting and target setting.
Qualifications and Skills required to be considered for the role of Environmental Manager:
  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance, vegetation management, or a related environmental field.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in estimating, scheduling, and financial management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of procurement and cost-saving strategies within a service-oriented business.
  • Ability to manage a fleet of vehicles and ensure compliance with scheduled maintenance.
  • Experience in managing a team and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying and resolving operational issues.
