Our client delivers services to major events & football clubs across the UK including Chelsea, Manchester United, Wigan Athletic / Warriors, Leicester City, Derby, Wolves alongside one-off events such as Silverstone F1, Lancashire Cricket Club and summer festivals. We are now looking for a Head of Operations to join their busy, growing and successful team.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident Head of Operations with solid industry experience in events and LANTRA certified as a 12D M6 Registered Lead Traffic Management Operative. Other requirements for this role include:

5+ years of experience in an operational / events environment

5+ years experience in line management, with a proven track record of effective coaching and mentoring

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Willingness to work outside of role to support growth and success of the business, often at pace

Proficient in the use of MS applications, with attention to detail to produce documents of a high standard

Must live within a daily commutable distance of Coventry

Must hold UK Driving Licence, extensive UK travel essential

L4 Spectator Safety desirable

SIA DS license desirable

Position summary:

We are looking for an events industry professional that can deliver complex zone ex event plans including HVM, TM, Car Parks, Security & Stewarding whilst managing direct reports at other key venues across the UK. When not on site you will be at the Head Office in Coventry creating traffic & crowd management plans and risk assessments whilst preparing for weekend deployments, the role involves working late nights and weekends on a regular basis but in return you will be given days off midweek, a competitive salary and a rewarding career path that could lead to an operations director role in the future. The ability to work with casual teams on the ground whilst maintaining high level stakeholder relationships is key, we need a doer who is excellent at completing multiple tasks per day and per venue.

Job role and responsibilities:

As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the ongoing management and development of the operations team (1 Head of Event Ops, 1 Operations Manager, 1 Operations Coordinator, 5 Event Day Managers), evaluating and monitoring performance, ensuring they receive feedback on their performance via monthly 1-2-1s, areas of improvement are identified and receive continued coaching and mentoring. Other responsibilities for this role include:

Lead all service lines including but not limited to Event Traffic Management, SIA DS & CCTV Security, Event Stewarding, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation, Event Parking & Sales

Ensure all events have an operations pack including up to date risk assessments, traffic management plans, crowd management plans & commercial plans

Work in partnership with other function heads to anticipate future operational needs, managing resources efficiently and effectively to meet requirements

Management of all company equipment, stock, vehicles and uniforms across the UK

Implement strategies to ensure company growth and services development, managing operations and retaining customers

Be an industry leader on innovations and attend industry events such as FSOA & SGSA

Have a good understanding of Chapter 8 traffic signs manual, Green Guide & Purple Guides

Work closely with the Staffing & Recruitment Manager and Training Dept to ensure the correct number and quality of resources are available to ensure future needs are met

Lead on all event day HR issues and work with HR lead to resolve & rectify

Lead on all new operations recruitment roles and assist in the overall recruitment and staffing of your deployments

Manage the welfare, safety and morale of 1,100+ front-line workforce to ensure the company is the employer of choice within the industry

Work with training department to ensure all casual workforce have a training pathway to ensure the business remains complaint with stewarding and traffic management guidance

Ensure all relevant processes and procedures are followed by the team and are fully compliant with all British Standards and legal requirements

Provide detailed and accurate reports to management highlighting areas of concern and escalating any future challenges or risks, in a timely manner

Ensure the Operations Team work closely with Finance/Payroll to ensure hours are recorded accurately and pay is processed appropriately for work completed

Protect sensitive personal data, ensuring it is handled in full compliance with GDPR requirements

Fully support other function leads in the ongoing development of client relationships, ensuring an excellent and responsive service is provided at all times

Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, ensuring any communications are dealt with responsively, including attending meetings and any assistance or contribution required is provided

Support the Senior Management Team with the production of content for quotes/tenders and attend presentations as required
