Job Title: Shift Leader – Despatch & Goods In

Reporting to: Warehouse Manager

Department: UK Logistics

Salary: £33,000 per annum + £2,500 shift allowance

Location: Coventry, CV3 4

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 16:00 - 00:00 40 hours per week.

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days (including 3 days shutdown at Christmas, which is not contractual) plus bank holidays

Job Description:

To ensure orders are shipped on time in full to our customers’ demands and that cartons are picked accurately and in line with departmental KPI’s. To control stocks, stock accuracy, and stock movements of finished goods by communicating and co-ordinating with other manufacturing teams to maintain a good flow of materials.

Accountabilities:

  • Plan resources to maintain goods within transport, warehouse, pick, pack and post operations, and put away operations so that the customer order process flow remains uninterrupted.
  • Use equipment such as RF scanners to ensure that stock is accurately put away, in the correct location to ensure orders pick when complete.
  • Communicate with carrier driver, check product and all corresponding paperwork, then assume responsibility for the safe loading of vehicles in accordance with the department’s health and safety plan. Report any issues to the Department Manager.
  • Amend labels for UK shipments if required, using carriers’ own systems so that labels are not left short, and that office cover can be provided from other sources if required.
  • Maintain stock levels of both business-critical stock items along with ancillary items such as maintainers, adhesives etc. and report shortages of any product to ensure that stock outs do not occur.
  • Confirm arrival of product, goods receipting of and placing of goods into stock, to enable the accounts team to pay the bill upon request and to identify errors if they occur.
  • Produce KPI reports in line with the department and business target to ensure that the department is running at its most efficient.
  • Take part in departmental and business wide stock takes, so that stock levels are held at accurate levels at all times.
  • Ensure that orders are packed for UK and export upon production of the packing notes in a timely manner to enable the office team to book the transport required ahead of the days required.
  • Understand how stock is incorrect from a physical v system perspective. Resolve to ensure the customer receives order on time in full. Stock levels are accurate and educate team to understand how error occurs.
  • Manage direct reports, by communicating direction daily, increasing motivation levels and carrying out recruitment, induction, training and development as required.
  • Ensure via the use of regular safety checks that the lorry and forklift trucks are able to operate on a daily basis, to provide a material flow for both production and despatch.
  • Keeping up to date with traffic laws and requirements and ensuring that the team implements and maintain changes when necessary.
  • Meet our client’s health and safety requirements as specified in the Health and Safety policy.
  • Enforce performance and absence policies and deal with disciplinary matters when necessary.
  • Manage team holidays and staffing levels.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by line manager, in line with the job purpose
