The Technical Estimator Role:
The Technical Sales Estimator will have a great understanding of engineering and fabrication with the ability to read and work to complex engineering drawings. Experience in sales and estimating in a subcontract manufacturing environment is a must, mainly in the following areas: laser cutting, folding, welding & fabrication. Excellent numeracy and literacy skills are required, along with being competent on basic PC packages and programs. Experience with an MRP/ERP system will be advantageous. Full training will be given on current systems and processes.
Daily duties will include:
- Preparing cost budgets and estimates for new contracts.
- Maintaining and improving current customer contracts and relationships, whilst also developing new ones.
- Adhering to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks to the company.
- Working closely with management to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects.
- Keeping detailed records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with clients.
- Preparing and submitting financial documents when required.
- Balancing multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline.
- Liaising with other company departments to maintain business development and continuously innovate new profitable outcomes. This will include being part of production meetings when required.
- Attending weekly sales meetings with the sales manager to set achievable targets and goals.
- Visiting customers when required to generate new business and keep relationships between parties.
The successful candidate will receive full product and on-going training and will join a motivated sales team with a proven track record in meeting and exceeding targets.
