Sonic Summary
- We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support children in both mainstream and SEND schools.
- Candidates should ideally have experience working with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and other SEND, although this is not mandatory.
- The role requires individuals who are resilient, persistent, and solution-focused to effectively manage complex and challenging behaviors.
- SEND TAs will support teachers in the classroom, work with children one-on-one, and facilitate small group sessions.
- The salary for this position is competitive, and applicants should have at least one year of relevant experience.
Experience of working with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties is desirable but not essential.
SEND TA's know that no two days are the same and that no two children are the same either. We are looking for very special adults who can support children with complex and challenging behaviours.
They will know that children require lots of attention, just the right sort of communication, consistency and flexibility, and a non-judgemental approach. They need to be resilient, persistent and solution focused to meet the needs of the children.
Some elements of the TA role:
supporting teachers in the classroom
working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students
managing classroom resources
managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
celebrating success
