About the Role

We are looking for individuals interested in servers/networks to join our fast-expanding team to work on-site on a shift pattern in our Coventry datacentre.

The role is primarily based around providing technical support and "remote-hands" services to our customers. Given that we offer a wide range of hosting services, there will be a high degree of variation of day-to-day work and no two days are the same.

We have a relaxed, friendly working environment and provide a fantastic opportunity for all new starters to thrive and rapidly learn new skills as full on-the-job training is provided.

- This position would be working full time from our Coventry datacentre with the opportunity for occasional travel to 3rd party datacentre sites.

- This would be a shift-based position working 4 days on - 4 days off in rotation

- Shifts would be in a rotation as follows: day - day - night.Dayshift is 11 hours and nightshift is 12 hours (7:30PM - 7:30AM)

- Initial training period of approximately three months during 9AM-5PM hours.

- Full on the job training would be provided.

- Private healthcare program after 3 months of employment.

Some of your responsibilities may include:

- Building up new physical rackmount servers or troubleshooting hardware faults.

- Deploying new physical or virtual dedicated servers.

- Deploying and managing private cloud hosting (primarily VMWare, Proxmox, OnApp)

- Deploying and managing load-balanced hosting environments.

- Providing technical support for customer-submitted tickets.

- Configuring and racking new rack-switches (primarily Juniper).

- Responding to monitoring alerts in a timely manner, escalating when needed.

- Setting up and managing customers backups (primarily Veeam).

- Managing customer firewalls (primarily Cisco, Juniper, pfSense)

Required Skills/Experience:

- Experience building and configuring computer hardware.

- Strong knowledge of Windows Operating System and ideally some exposure to the Linux operating systems including Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, RedHat, Debian

- Excellent written and spoken English.

- A good attitude towards customer service.

- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.

- Technically minded with an interest in latest technology.

- Ability to work on a shift basis.

Desired Skills/Experience:

We are more than happy to train an enthusiastic individual, but the ideal candidate would have the following:

- Experience with LAMP stack / web hosting in general.

- Comfortable using Linux at command line level

- Previous experience of hosting control panels (cPanel/Plesk)

- Understanding of DNS systems

- Experience of using Cisco or Juniper network equipment within a datacentre environment

- Exposure to and basic operational understanding of virtualisation technologies (VMWare, Proxmox)

- Driving Licence would be advantageous.

- Previous experience working with server computer or server hardware, particularly Supermicro, Dell, HP.

- UK Driving Licence would be advantageous.
