An Electric Motor Design Expert qualified to Masters / PhD level and with 5+ years commercial experience involving the design of electric motor powertrains with a focus on electromagnetic performance will join an exciting well-funded Deep-Tech Start-up.

A generous salary up to £90K will be offered together with Shares, 30 days holiday and Hybrid working (minimum of 3 days in office).

The successful Electric Motor Designer will use their knowledge and expertise to guide optimization of e-motor processes and help with the development of internal simulation tools by working closely with the simulation and ML/AI teams. You will take responsibility for running detailed electromagnetic simulations of different e-motors bringing a solid understanding of the complex processes that that impact electromagnetic performance.

Technical Skills and qualifications required:

  • Minimum of a Masters Degree with a PhD in e-motor design/performance being highly beneficial.
  • 5+ years experience designing electric motor powertrains with a focus on electromagnetic performance.
  • Knowledge of commercial motor design software such as Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD or JMAG.
  • A good understanding of the underlying theory of motor design.
  • An understanding of motor drive modelling and control is desirable.
