Prototype Build Support Engineer

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a prototype manufacturing process support engineer for the coordination and build and assembly function for a new and exciting EV Battery development project, based in Coventry.

This project will require individuals with all round manufacturing knowledge to provide a support function between stores, production build and engineering. Initially for up to 6 months with a possibility of the project being extended or suitable candidates being utilised on projects elsewhere.

The Prototype Build Support Engineer will be responsible for managing problems, addressing quality issues, interacting with suppliers and providing additional project coordination and support within other areas of the prototype build areas.

Responsibilities of the Prototype Build Support Engineer:
. Providing coordination of the Prototype Build functions (Electronic Drive Units areas)
. Identifying inefficiencies and deliver improvements to parts supply, production and assembly process and overall quality
. Addressing quality issues and coordinating/supporting corrections plans specifically for missing, damaged or wrong parts
. Establish and coordinate parts supply issues
. Supplier liaison across all areas of production build and parts/systems supply
. Continuous improvement identification and progression
. Produce reports and outputs for the production area and management


You will rotate on weekly shift patterns. Shift patterns are:
. AM Shift - 06:00am - 14:00pm Mon - Thurs / 06:00am - 11:00am Friday
. PM Shift - 14:00pm - 22:00pm Mon - Thurs / 11:00am - 16:00pm Friday


The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
. Strong, 'hands on', project coordination skills gained ideally within Automotive, Manufacturing, Quality or Engineering environments.
. Prototype component build and assembly experience would be desirable
. Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and strong Excelskills
. Excellent communication and customer management capabilities
. Ability to resolve issues promptly, within a professional manner.
. Flexible attitude towards work and a strong desire for development
. Organised, resilient, with the ability to think outside the box.
. Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced production and manufacturing environment.

Benefits include:
. Up to £30.00 per hour depending on experience
