Coventry / Hybrid

£60,000 to £80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience

We are working in partnership with a highly reputable, well-established, successful law firm who are looking to attract an experienced Childcare Solicitor or Legal Executive to lead and drive forward their expanding Care Department, based in Coventry.

The role will involve:

  • Taking instructions from new clients and providing advice
  • Drafting applications and statements
  • Handling your own caseload of public law children matters
  • Briefing and working with counsel
  • Handling pre-proceedings and public law children matters
  • Applying for and managing Legal Aid public funding for clients, including POA claims for disbursements and interim costs payments
  • Using a case management system, Legal Aid Agency CCMS online and HMCTS FPL Portal
  • Mentoring, supporting and overseeing less experienced staff

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Experience of running your own caseload of public law children matters without supervision
  • Fully qualified solicitor or FCILEx status 
  • Experience of using the legal aid portal
  • Experience of using a legal case management system
  • Advocacy experience
  • Experience of working with counsel
  • Supervisory experience as a team leader or head of department

This is a full-time permanent job offered with flexible / hybrid working. Applications will be considered from candidates looking for either full-time or part time hours.
