A contract Quality Engineer position has become available within a business that supplies state-of-the-art mechanical components to some of the most exciting organisations globally. On-site, they produce complex products using a mixture of tried-and-tested production methods and modern-day manufacturing techniques. The successful candidate will be provided with a competitive rate, flexible working hours where possible and an opportunity to help launch a superb product. This role is outside IR35, so contractors running limited companies are welcome to apply.

Quality Engineer responsibilities include -

  • Support the safe launch of new projects through comprehensive quality activities and timely PPAP completion.
  • Drive continuous improvement of quality systems, processes, and products for new projects.
  • Lead problem-solving activities and manage customer prototype claim portals.
  • Develop key quality documentation (e.g., first-off inspection instructions, control plans, PFMEAs) for production lines.
  • Coordinate Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and capability studies to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to validate PPAP documentation and complete internal PPAPs.

Quality Engineer desirable skills and experience -

  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of QMS, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Able to use core tools such as 8D, PPAP, and Control Plans.
  • Mechanical engineering education (HNC/HNC) or relevant training.
