Coventry City Centre

Competitive salary commensurate with experience (negotiable)

We are seeking an experienced Childcare Legal Assistant or an experienced Childcare Legal Secretary to support the busy Care Department of a forward-thinking, prestigious law firm at their office in Coventry city centre.  This is a Lexcel accredited, Legal 500-recognised firm, offering a friendly, supportive working environment.  Hybrid working and flexible working may be considered following a successful probation period. 

The role will involve

Supporting the Care Department with a wide range duties including:

  • Diary management for the Care team
  • Drafting/typing of correspondence and legal documents
  • Liaising with clients by email, face to face and by telephone
  • Opening and closing files
  • Conducting conflict checks and preparing compliance documentation
  • Taking instructions from prospective new clients and providing quotes
  • Use of a legal case management system
  • Attending court to take notes or deliver court bundles and letters 
  • Uploading documents to HMCTS Portal
  • Applying for Legal Aid funding online 
  • Arranging the payment of invoices and claiming payments on account online

Suitable candidates will be local to Coventry and have:

  • A minimum of two years’ legal support experience
  • Excellent keyboard skills and IT skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Good IT skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience, working in a busy care department for a law firm or local authority
  • Experience of legal aid procedures (essential)
  • The ability to use online platforms for the management of Court proceedings and Legal Aid.

This is a full time permanent, job which is office-based, working Monday to Friday. Hybrid working may be considered following a successful probation period.
