Absolutely delighted to be partnering with Burbidge & Son Ltd on a retained basis to recruit a Manufacturing Director. Burbidge & Son Ltd is a UK based, award winning manufacturer of bespoke kitchens with a strong family heritage and commitment to timeless design and quality.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be based at the Manufacturing site and the headquarters in Coventry. You will be responsible for Manufacturing & Supply Chain for a well-established, leading supplier of kitchen and bathroom furniture and components to the trade. This is a very exciting time to join the business as it goes through a period of change, you will be integral to the success of the future growth and vision of the business.

Key Deliverables:
  • Provide leadership and direction, along with technical, safety management & continuous improvement support.
  • Derive a long-term strategy of continuous improvement alongside the wider business.
  • Enhance the relationship between sales and operations to lead best in class customer service.
  • Lead, mentor and develop your team.
  • Develop, justify and implement strategic plans.
  • Partner with senior internal key stakeholders in improving production efficiency, customer service and product quality.
  • Manage supply chain, stock and the purchasing function.
  • Develop manufacturing systems.
  • Develop and improve department procedures and policies.
 The Right Candidate:
  • Strong people management and influencing skills.
  • Experience of project management of capital projects and other strategic interventions.
  • Demonstrable record of continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience of facilities management and Health & Safety Management.
  • Experience of working within an SME environment.
  • Demonstratable experience in increasing production efficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within cross functional teams.
  • A strongly customer focussed people-person with key technical skills, who is likely to have a degree in engineering or technology.
  • A good communicator who can engage and influence, at all levels.
  • A proven track record ideally gained within the furniture industry, building materials industry or related trades.
  • Experience of managing facilities for painting furniture components would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of supply chain development and management.
  • Experience of maintaining conformance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
  • An analytical and commercial thinker.
