The Role and School

The role of a Pastoral Care Assistant/Learning Support will be suitable for candidates who have the commitment, passion and resilience to make a difference to pupils who have a range of social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) and special educational needs, such as ADHD and Autism.

Pastoral Care Assistant work under the guidance of senior staff within an agreed system of supervision, working flexibly across the school, adapting support to the specific needs of the pupils.

As part of a specialist team, Pastoral Care Assistant play an important role in helping to create a stimulating, safe and structured environment for pupils with complex needs when pupils are dysregulated.

 You will be there to support pupils’ long-term development through the planning and delivery of interventions, coaching conversations and therapeutic activities or by providing general support in the classroom under the guidance of a teacher.

Requirements

The desired Pastoral Care Assistant/Learning Support  will have;

-          Experience working in a setting with children or adults with a range of SEND needs.

-          Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable

-          Emotional intelligence and the ability to react calmly in stressful situations.

-          Have to support all students with consistent, unconditional positive regard, identifying and responding to their individual needs

-          The ability to work on initiative and proactively
