Building Maintenance Engineer

4 days on 4 days off 07:00 - 19:00 and 19:00 - 07:00.

Band 5 - £23.00

1 year placement.

We have a new role for a Building Maintenance Engineer at Coventry and Warwickshire based at Cauldon Centre, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry CV2 2TE within the Estates & Facilities team. We are looking for somebody to start ASAP.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • To participate in the provision of an Estates service primarily undertaking Building and joinery day-to-day reactive repairs, planned maintenance, installation, and minor improvements. It will be anticipated that some general building repair duties will also be required to be undertaken.
  • The post holder will be required to carry out small works as required. Plan, set out, manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new works utilising relevant drawings, specifications, instruments, machinery, tools, and equipment. Test, certify and commission services and equipment upon completion. Assist in developing cost plans for small works with the P&ED team as required.
  • Provide a professional robust estates maintenance and repair service within the buildings and grounds of CWPT properties.
  • Execute a range of controlled operations e.g., isolations, interruptions of mechanical supplies, under guidance.
  • Participation in the Estates emergency on-call rota or any other rota as required to meet the service demands.
  • To follow all the Trust Policies and Safe Working Procedures.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship in a mechanical and/or building engineering discipline.
  • Significant on-the-job experience in building maintenance and basic joinery skills.
  • Previous experience in working in a highly reactive environment.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Health & Safety Awareness.
  • Great communication and well-developed personal skills and the ability to prioritise own workload without supervision when needed.

  • You will be working with another person with a day team around 08:00 - 16:00 to support (Occasionally working alone to cover sickness & annual leave).
  • 2 consecutive weeks days, 2 consecutive weeks nights.
  • You will use Mobile App used to receive jobs - endpro, manual log book to record updates and nights will mostly include follow up jobs & water flushing.
  • We are looking for experienced, knowledge is key and that you have worked in the sector and are proactive and organised.
  • You will be working in secure units so will have access set up and carry a PIT alarm, please be aware of the mental health environment you could be exposed to.
