Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of our client for this exciting opportunity!

We are seeking a talented CAD Engineerto join our client’s R&D team. This role involves applying your knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical principles, and CAD to design next-generation products. You’ll also create images and documentation to support the R&D process, product materials, and other business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design: Design mechanical components for new product development using SolidWorks, including component layouts and product casings.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers to support the manufacturing of designed parts.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce manufacturing drawings, wiring diagrams, datasheets, user manuals, and build manuals.
  • Product Testing: Liaise with test houses to facilitate product safety assessments.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality, certification, and compliance standards.
  • Understand company responsibilities related to ATEX, UKEX, IECEx, and CSA certifications, and support the duty of care for customers using the company’s products.

Interfaces/Interactions

  • Collaborate with the R&D team for product development.
  • Coordinate with the production team to develop internal documentation.
  • Work with the sales team to produce sales documentation.
  • Liaise with the logistics team and suppliers for sourcing and manufacturing mechanical parts.
  • Communicate with test houses to facilitate product testing (e.g., IP, safety).
  • Report directly to the Technical Director.

Required Skills

  • CAD Expertise: Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential (SEE Electrical is a bonus).
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of processes such as injection molding and CNC machining.
  • Technical Writing: Ability to write clear and concise instructions and documentation.
  • Design Standards: Knowledge of IP design (e.g., IP65) and mechanical safety principles (e.g., BS EN 61010).

Terms of Employment

  • Employment Type: Full-time (for less experienced engineers) or part-time (for more experienced engineers).
  • Flexible Hours: Core working hours are 8:00-16:30, with flexibility for earlier, later, or weekend work.
  • Remote Working: Hybrid model available, with a minimum of one day per week in the office.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days per year (full-time equivalent), increasing by one day every three years, up to 28 days.
